TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today encouraged Floridians to participate in Citizens Hours in Bradenton in Manatee County on Friday, May 16, 2008. Governor Crist and Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp will meet with citizens to hear their concerns. The purpose of Citizens Hours is to provide Florida citizens who might never have a chance to interact with the Governor, an opportunity to have their voices heard. Previously, the Governor held Citizens Hours in Lake Worth in Palm Beach County in March 2007.

“The people of Florida are our bosses, and it is important for us to have the opportunity to listen to their concerns and needs,” said Governor Crist. “Their priorities should be our priorities, and I look forward to hearing about the issues and concerns important to them.”

This event is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will register for a five-minute individual meeting with either Governor Crist or Lt. Governor Kottkamp. A representative from the Governor’s Citizen Services office also attends each meeting to document the discussion and the appropriate follow-up needed. A media availability will be held at 9:00 a.m. before the meetings begin. Members of the Governor’s staff will also be available for conferences.
